WHERE EXACTLY ARE YOU LOCATED AND IS THERE A TRAVEL FEE OUTSIDE OF YOUR AREA?

We are located in Aptos, in Santa Cruz County, California. There is no travel fee for Headshots/Lifestyle Portraits from Aptos to Scotts Valley. If Brook is traveling to Monterey/Carmel area or Los Gatos/San Jose/Santa Clara/San Francisco bay area, and there are at least three people for headshots, the travel fee will be waived. If the headshot is only for one individual in the Monterey bay or north of Los Gatos to San Francisco, it will be a travel fee of $100. If you would like to avoid the travel fee, consider gathering a couple of friends/colleagues that may be in need of a fantastic new headshot! And to be honest who doesn’t need a stunning new headshot?! Have you seen some of people’s Linked profiles? Ugh…

DO YOU TRAVEL TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA?

Absolutely! If you need a sizable number of headshots for your company/group, between central to southern California, please contact us so we can make that happen. We’d be happy to answer your questions if you just want to inquire for more information.

HOW LONG DOES A HEADSHOT TAKE & WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

A basic headshot session will only take about 5-10 minutes. We like to make sure you are comfortable, make it quick and easy! If we're doing multiple backgrounds, for a lifestyle portrait, we may spend up to 20 minutes per person. We also have a Lifestyle Photoshoot that runs about 2 hours with multiple locations, but we can certainly customize a shoot depending on your needs and how much variety you would like to have.

As for what you can expect for a headshot, you will receive 2 - 3 retouched headshots. The main goal is that you have 1 favorite. We just made sure you had a couple options to select from. We want to make sure you love your new headshot! Keep in mind that if you don’t smile during the photoshoot when we’ve asked you to, the headshots will not be of you smiling. And there is nothing wrong with a great headshot with no smile. They can make a very strong portrait! However, if you are expecting a headshot with a smile - be prepared to smile! 😀

DO YOU REQUIRE A DEPOSIT AND WHAT IF I NEED TO RESCHEDULE?

We require a $100 retainer for Mini Lifestyle, Lifestyle & Branding, Gradation Portraits or Family Portraits, but we are willing to reschedule an re-apply that retainer if something comes up. A retainer for multiple headshots scheduled at one location would also be required, depending on the location and number of headshots. Please inquire.

HOW MUCH RETOUCHING IS INVOLVED?

We want to make sure everyone looks their best and we try to keep the retouching moderate. Retouching will involve some whitening of the whites of the eyes and teeth if needed, stray hairs removed, blemishes removed, wrinkles softened, but we certainly want you to look like you but just refreshed and great! Typically men are retouched less than women, and we want to make sure you are happy with the finished images. If you want more or less retouching, feel free to let us know.

WHAT IF I WANT MORE RETOUCHING DONE, GLARE IN GLASSES REMOVED OR BRACES REMOVED?

We are at your service! Since it does involve more time, we would charge $10 per image to have more extensive retouching.

CAN YOU MAKE ME THINNER?
We never alter body structure by default, but can certainly do so by request. We want to make sure you always look like you.

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR A GROUP OF HEADSHOTS AND GROUP PHOTOS?

If we have a group of 6 or more individuals all scheduled for a basic headshot, we will include a retouched group photo. If you do not need any headshots, and just need a few group shots for your company, please call us so we can discuss exactly what you need.

HOW SHOULD I DRESS FOR HEADSHOTS OR LIFESTYLE PORTRAITS?

What you wear for your headshot or lifestyle portrait is important for your image. As Alexander McQueen once said, “Fashion has to reflect who you are, what you feel at the moment, where you are going.”

Here are some HEADSHOT TIPS to help you plan WHAT TO WEAR:

  • Dress how you want to represent yourself, what makes you feel confident!

  • Select clothes that are not baggy or too tight, but fit well. Fitted or tailored clothing works best.

  • Make sure your clothes are ironed or steamed, no wrinkles.

  • Long sleeves often work better than sleeveless, unless you love you arms, then go for it.

  • Avoid wearing white, unless it’s layered under a jacket, cardigan, or sweater.

  • Busy patterns are distracting, consider wearing something in a solid color.

  • The right color can bring out your eye color and brighten your look!

  • If you have long dark brown or black hair, your may hair blend into darker clothing, so consider wearing a lighter colored top.

  • Bring an alternative shirt if you are in between what to wear or just want a back-up (just in case).

  • If you plan to wear a necklace, wear one that is short rather than longer for close-up headshots.

  • MEN & WOMEN should at least have chapstick or lip balm on so that their lips don’t look dry.

SHOULD I CONSIDER PROFESSIONAL MAKE-UP AND/OR HAIR PROFESSIONALLY STYLED?

We do recommend professional make-up for women, and we can know some talented make-up artists you can contact. However, that’s up to you. If you are a woman who normally doesn’t wear make-up, we certainly want you to feel comfortable. We would still recommend that even if you don’t wear makeup, you wear a little mascara and lip balm.

As for hair, consider hiring a professional to do your hair when you have your make-up done. This can be particularly helpful if you have unruly hair. Whether or not you work with a stylist, make sure you wear your hair in a way that you think looks most like you. Also, most cuts look better after one week. It is usually NOT a good idea to get your hair cut or hair colored the day before your session.

WHAT ARE YOUR EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY RATES?

Our event photography which ranges from parties, corporate events, conferences, to conventions, does not have a set rate because it depends on the size of the event, the coverage needed, and if the event will need 1-3 photographers. A small event typically needs only one photographer. A large event generally needs two. Please call us so we can check our availability and give you a quote based on your needs.
